Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS), Buildings Department


Under the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS), owners of buildings aged 30 years or above (except domestic buildings not exceeding 3 storeys) and served with statutory notices are required to appoint an Registered Inspector (RI) to carry out the prescribed inspection and supervise the prescribed repair works found necessary of the common parts, external walls and projections or signboards of the buildings.

Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme (MWIS), Buildings Department


Under the Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme (MWIS), owners of buildings aged 10 years or above (except domestic buildings not exceeding 3 storeys) and served with statutory notices are required to appoint a Qualified Person (QP) to carry out the prescribed inspection and supervise the prescribed repair works found necessary of all windows of the building.

Building rehabilitation facilitatiing services for independent consultant to provide maintenance
related third party advice and the estimated cost of works, new tendering arrangement etc., to
enable building owners for acquiring more information about the building rehabilitation market,
and to proceed with the tendering process for the works contractor in a fair, unbiased and
competitive environment. 


 
Building Maintenance Grant Scheme for Elderly Owners, Hong Kong Housing Society


BMGS provides financial assistance to elderly owner-occupiers to repair and maintain their buildings as well as to improve building safety. A maximum grant of HK$40,000 is available for each eligible elderly owner-occupier. The grant can also be used to repay the outstanding loan(s) with the Buildings Department (BD), the Housing Society or the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) in relation to building maintenance.
